Founded by Scott and Cindy James of Riceville, TN, DSH (Down Syndrome Housing) is a new nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of life for adults with Down syndrome. It is also the goal of DSH to promote the inherent right of adults with Down syndrome to be accepted and included as valued and equal members of their communities.
The Mission of DSH
The mission of DSH is to provide the absolute best housing communities for adults with Down syndrome. Our communities will not only provide housing, recreational and leisure activities, but will also ensure these special adults are given the love and respect they so truly deserve. Our goal is to have four DSH communities in every state, with each community providing living facilities for 100 individuals.
As DSH grows, our future plans include offering services later where we would be able to provide the teaching of life skills to individuals with Down syndrome beginning in early childhood all the way through to adulthood. These valuable skills will allow them to lead more productive lives and make meaningful contributions within their communities.
